Place Programme
Reimagining towns for a sustainable future
Towns play a defining role in the character and appeal of the region, shaping how people live, work, visit, and invest. The Place Programme recognises their importance and provides the resources and flexibility needed to unlock their full potential.
The programme aims to reinvigorate and repurpose towns across Borderlands, supporting the creation of thriving, resilient, and sustainable communities while boosting economic activity. A total of £50 million has been committed through the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal, including up to £30 million from the UK Government and £20 million from the Scottish Government. This funding is enabling the delivery of a wide range of regeneration projects that reflect local priorities and opportunities.
