Business Infrastructure Programme - Scotland

Investing in high-quality business space to support sustainable economic growth

With funding for up to £8.0m from the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal, the Business Infrastructure Programme aims to tackle critical market barriers such as remote locations, outdated facilities, low rental returns, and limited modern business premises, ensuring businesses have the space they need to grow.

In the South of Scotland, the programme is addressing this need by investing in 8.7 hectares of serviced land and delivering 2,028 m² of new industrial space between 2022 and 2031, creating high-quality business environments that attract investment and support economic growth.

What the programme will deliver

By investing in modern, high-quality business accommodation, the programme will respond to growing demand across rural and semi-rural communities while supporting business growth and productivity. It will strengthen the region’s inward investment offer, particularly for higher-value and innovative sectors, while improving the competitiveness and resilience of local businesses.

In doing so, it will help stimulate job creation, expand access to higher-quality employment opportunities, and reduce regional inequalities by strengthening the economic infrastructure that underpins long-term, sustainable growth.
