Endless experiences await - a trip to the Borderlands offers unique opportunities to explore and enjoy.

Heritage, culture and space to reflect

Whether you're looking for a room with a view, seeking action and adventure or visiting for business purposes; the Borderlands region offers you plenty to see, do and explore.

Home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Lake District and Hadrian’s Wall, the UK’s first Dark Sky Park in Galloway Forest Park and countless iconic landscapes, the Borderlands region provides an abundance of attractions for individuals, families and groups.

Destination Borderlands

Destination Borderlands projects are establishing a national and international profile for the region, leading to an increase in visitors and visitor expenditure, as well as extending the season to increase the number of year-round jobs.

These projects focus on heritage, recreational and cultural assets to enhance the vital part that the tourism sector plays in the economy, helping to drive economic and inclusive growth for the benefit of local communities.

The complementary projects capitalise on our natural capital and outdoor recreational assets to boost the quality of life offer for existing and future residents. There are eight projects across the Destination Borderlands theme and you can follow their progress as they move into 'live projects' here.

Why not extend your stay and experience everything the region has to offer?

Four strategic themes act as guiding principles across all of our projects and investments.
